Rocket Carrying GPS 2R Satellite Explode
Accidents happen. Even at NASA where they have strong testing and integrity procedures.
A rocket carrying a GPS 2R just seconds into the mission explodes.
More than 250 tons of flaming debri and rocket fuel rain down from the sky. The explosion occurs so close the the ground that the area around looks like a war zone.
Amazingly no one is injured!
The investigators later determine that there was a 17 foot crack in one of the boosters.

Endeavour STS-123 and Delta-II GPS-2R-19 Launches
This video is a compilation of the footage (and some photos) my dad and I took when we went to Florida in March 2008 to see two rocket launches. First, in the early morning of March 11, we saw Endeavour launch on mission STS-123 to the ISS. Later that week, on the morning of March 15, we saw a Delta-II rocket launch from Cape Canaveral, lofting a GPS satellite into orbit. Both launches were spectacular, and I felt like both had advantages and disadvantages.
